ひさし【庇】

1 〔小屋根〕 eaves; (天蓋形の) a canopy.

2 〔窓や扉の〕 an eave; a window roof; a pent roof.

3 〔帽子の〕 a visor; a vizor; a peak.

●ひさしのついた帽子 a peaked [visored, vizored] cap.

庇を貸して母屋を取られる have advantage taken of one's generosity [kindness]; give sb an inch and he'll take a mile.
